JOHN TORCELLO

Together with his brother Joe, John formed the speeDVD Co. in November 1998 establishing a new approach for providing low overhead, efficient, high quality, personalized service with attention-to-detail, on-time delivery of DVD authoring services accomplished with zero-defect client approval rates at highly competitive pricing.

With close to one thousand DVD titles successfully completed to the Spring of 2002; speeDVD’s application of this new business model to the fast-paced DVD production services market represents demonstrated proven success for the company as well as its numerous satisfied clients.

Prior to helping establish the speeDVD Co., John served as Manager of DVD Operations for the Sony Pictures DVD Center in Culver City, CA. At Sony, he was an integral part of the management team tasked with integration of the evolving Sony DVD Production System hardware and software, starting up the facility and launching both NTSC and PAL format DVD-Video releases for Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment and SonyMusic among others.

Before Sony, John served as the Director of Multimedia Services/Marketing for LaserPacific Media Corporation in Hollywood, CA. John was responsible for helping to establish LaserPacific’s reputation for high-end, high quality workmanship through the successful marketing of MPEG1, MPEG2, DVD, CD-i, VideoCD, Compressed Digital Video for PC playback and CD-ROM compression services. Clients included Microsoft, Matsushita, Philips, British Air, IBM and many others.

John has served as a guest speaker regarding implementation of compressed Digital Video technology at numerous trade conferences including S3 Inc.’s MPEG Developer’s Conference, Ash Pahwa’s MPEG Developer’s Conference/UCLA Extension, and as a panelist at MultiMedia Live!

John has been involved professionally with interactive, optical media technologies for over 18 years. He served as Manager of Videodisc Operations for LaserEdit, Inc. in Burbank, CA; responsible for the supervision/scheduling of department employees in servicing the offline edit needs of over 30 episodic TV series with quick-turnaround ODC (Optical Disc Corporation) ‘one-off’ recordable laserdiscs as well as providing sales/marketing/services for numerous multimedia laserdisc clientele including Mattel, Boeing and others.

John holds an MBA in Marketing/Management from Woodbury University in Burbank, CA and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition from the University of Toronto, Canada.


JOE TORCELLO

Single-handedly authoring close to 1,000 DVD titles at speeDVD to the Spring of 2002; Joe co-founded the speeDVD Co. with his brother John bringing over 17 years of practical ‘hands-on’ Hollywood post-production/editing experience to the speeDVD Company. Since speeDVD’s inception, Joe has delivered a client revision zero approval pass rate of authored projects exceeding 92%.

Working previously with companies such as E! Entertainment Television, LA Digital, Varitel Video, Paisley Park Studios, MTV/ VH-1, EXTRA Newsmagazine, Image Transform, Inc., LaserEdit, Inc., Vidcom Post, Inc., Pacific Media Post, Inc., Evil Twin Productions and Inter/Media Advertising, Joe’s video/audio editing experience is diverse and far reaching; including numerous Music Videos (including Dr. Dre and the ‘artist’ (known as ‘Prince’), Talk Shows (including ‘The Howard Stern Show’), Game Shows (including ‘The Joker’s Wild’), Comedy Specials for various cable networks (including several ‘Jeff Foxworthy’ specials), multiple Infomercials (Gibson Guitars), News Magazine Shows (EXTRA) and many Corporate Video clients (Toyota).

Joe’s technical talents cover both traditional tape-based on-line/off-line editing/switcher systems as well as the latest compressed Digital Video systems such as the AVID Media Composer and the Spruce DVD Station™. His ‘hands-on’ approach includes working knowledge of the aforementioned AVID system, DigiDesign ProTools system, Grass Valley, ISC, Calloway, CMX, LaserEdit edit systems as well as Grass Valley, Chyron, Dubner, Abekas, Sony digital switchers, digital disk recorders and character generation systems. He also has demonstrated facility and experience with Mac- and PC-based video/graphic/audio systems/software including Adobe After Effects, Puffin Commotion, Apple DVD Studio Pro and Apple FinalCut Pro.

Joe regularly updates his formal training on numerous pieces of technical equipment and software by attending company-sponsored sessions and events. He holds a certificate in machine and tool engineering. In addition to his audio/video experience, Joe owns and operates a custom guitar company which builds, maintains, customizes and repairs guitars for local Los Angeles musicians.
